Yes, senator, this taxpayer does care how much you spend
"I don't think that the American taxpayer is concerned so much about how much we spend so long as we do it responsibly." So said Sen. Lisa Murkowski. Personally, I'm very concerned about how much the government spends -- because it spends my money! I respect and have supported Sen. Murkowski, but I have increasingly found that she does not speak for or act in ways consistent with my concerns.
I'm involved in the shooting and hunting sports. I appreciate that Sen. Murkowski's votes have been mostly supportive of such issues. However, in the Aug. 24 primary, I cannot be a one-issue voter.
With the federal deficit at record levels, I must vote for fiscal restraint. Sen. Murkowski voted to spend billions to bail out Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, Wall Street and billions more for TARP and a stimulus package -- and often her votes were in opposition to most Republicans. I must demand fiscal restraint from those who are spending my money.
That means supporting Joe Miller for U.S. Senate.
