trove of speakers praising Senator Murkowski as “Alaska’s only Hope for Survival”,
I couldn’t help but be struck by the physical manifestation of how far she and her
crowd of hand picked sycophants are removed from current mainstream Americans.
I was impressed by the carefully orchestrated chanting and waving of professionally
printed signs. Especially the ones directing people as to the correct spelling of
M.U.R.K.O.W.S.K.I. Very impressive, given her continued statement as not having made
up her mind until less than twenty four hours earlier.
After being introduced by a sitting Democratic Senator from Juneau, and flanked by
union honchos that included the Alaska General Contractors, NEA-Alaska, APDEA
and the AFN, she surprised absolutely no one in taking no time to channel Ted Stevens.
Not withstanding that at the Lincoln Dinner early in 2010 he had stated “I do hope that
we can avoid electing people who would destroy another Republican in order to bring
about personal success." She wasted no time in denigrating the Alaskan Voters, the
Tea Party Express as well as Sarah Palin. Pretty original there Senator, if I do say so.
Funny though, as she was lamenting the “outside extremism of the Tea Party Express,
the mudslinging and outright lies” as reasons she was fired from the peoples’ seat, she
never got around to mentioning her voting record supporting the Bail-Outs, TARP,
opposing immigration reform as well as opposing the outright repeal of Obama care.
I understand her reversal on the Obama care statement finally came in June, a bit late.
That reversal did however, foreshadow her statement that she regretted giving her
word in the Kenai debate to respect the vote of the Alaskan voter. I would have been
more impressed if she had regretted her vote to confirm Eric Holder, or her obvious
distaste for limited government, or her proposal of a cap and trade system, well you get
the picture. http://www.peninsulaclarion.com/stories/082210/new_698800918.shtml
Getting people fired up, especially conservatives, about politics and elections has
never been easy. When Lisa M invited campaign supporters to a write in campaign
announcement in open defiance of Alaskan voter preferences, it had more impact than
any exhortation we could have made. Couple that with the Friday morning invitations
to “supporters and friends, some of who happen to be lobbyists” and she may have
actually been in contact with the spirit of Admiral Yamamoto as he referenced waking a
sleeping giant. http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0910/42358.html#ixzz0zzaSRDBe
